Christopher's Gourmet Grill

UPDATE: 12/14/2008

BurgerMeister is on a burger rampage:

Bacon, cheese, mmmmmmmmm.

-----------------

UPDATE: 6/6/08

The Grill Master gets some:

I know that people have taken pics of this place before, but i don't know if they took pics of the bacon cheese burger, so here are some!

Right now this is my favorite burger in town (the veggie burger with bacon at the Laurelthirst tavern comes in a close second, though). Reasonalbly sized patty, shredded lettuce, nice chunks of tomato, good sauces, and they get the bacon just right. Not too chewy and not burnt. Normally i don't like the steak cut fries, but they season these guys just right!

The only weird thing about today's trip there was the music. Normally they are playing R&B but today they played a recording of some dude covering "more than words" by Extreme. Sucks to be that person! Another thing that changed is that they now have a burger basket deal, where you can get a 20oz soda and fries for a little bit more. Not sure why they needed that as the prices were already good ($4.50 for a bacon cheeseburger,) but I'm not complaining!

Hamburgler:
This place has got some great burger deals. That burger up there is the "Louisiana Cheese Burger" with a delicious spicy hot link topper along the usual suspects. With fries its $5.50.

They also have chicken burgers, fish burgers, and the "Man Up Cheese Burger" (bacon, egg, double cheese, and a hot link).

Stanford's

UPDATE: 12/14/08

BurgerMeisster is one of those that knows the secret of bacon on the Gardenburger. You can debate the "recommended" part:

BBQ burger. Crispy onions BBQ sauce lettuce tomato and mmmmm bacon. I prefer my BBQ bacon burgers with a Gardenburger patty. Yum yum. Notice the bonus pickle. Yep. Fried pickle. Recommended!

BurgerMeister and the Hamburgler seek out happy hour delights after careful consideration of customized embroidery options available in the Lloyd Center:

The first one is a giant 1/2 pounder with pepperbacon, Tillamook cheese, and gaucamole with fries for $10.00. The oval shaped patty looked suspiciously like the one found at Portland Steak & Chophouse (who are owned by the same parent company). Came cooked to order.

From 3pm to 6pm they have a happy hour menu (with $2.50 beverage purchase) and its a good deal. That second cheeseburger was $3.00 and came California style. Had to try some weird happy hour snack as well. That third pic is a concoction of Potato Chips, Bacon, Tomatoes, Bleu Cheese, and Ranch Chipolte sauce for $3.00. We love you America!

Hawaii: Haleiwa Joes Seafood Grill

BurgerMeister gets to go to the land of the Rainbow Warriors (yep, she got trapped tailgating):

Although the location of Haleiwa (holley-eva) Joe's in the town of Haleiwa on the North Shore of Oahu is almost perfect, the burger itself leaves something to be desired. Overdone with American cheese. Bun way too bready. The 20-30 foot waves in the distance make up for the mediocre meal. Burgermeister loves tanned hardbodied surfer boys. Bonus pickle, which was better than the burger.

Carmichael's (Tigard)

BurgerMeister and Hamuburgler are in the land of cargo shorts, sandals, and surf t-shirts:

We don't want to talk about burgers.....can we write a review about Batman on the IMax screen in Tigard? This place was perfect for face stuffing before the multiple trips you will be taking to see Batman on the IMax.

Surprisingly delicious. Those are swiss/mushroom with fries, and a jalapeño/cheese with rings (no one really believes they are going to get sick because they found a contaminated jalapeño in Texas do they?)

Did we mention Batman on the IMax? Burgers, beers, about $17.00.

Sometimes you just got to let the pictures tell the story. BurgerMeister, VeggiePatty, PattyMelt, and SweetHotMustard had a little romance with a hamburguesa in Mexico.

Florida Room

UPDATE: 5/16/07

BurgerMeister looks to be drinking bacon infused vodka with an additional slice of bacon:

So burgermeister was hungry. She said to herself "SLIDERS!!!!!"

The Florida Room had these delectable beauties as an occasional special, until demand became so apparent that they put them on the menu.

$4, comes with fries, tots or salad (extra for the rings. mmmmm.) Meat, sauce, pickle, bun, all that you need, nothing that you don't. Plus, the best bloody marys in town.

ORIGINAL POST: 9/16/07

Continuing quest for sliders in Portland lands us at the Florida Room.

For a limited time they have a sliders special. $3.00 for two juicy sliders topped with pickles and mayo. Comes with fries, tots, or salad.

They have a couple odd menu items as well. Deep fried avacodos, deviled eggs, boozecakes (bourbon batter pancakes), and bloody marys made with wasabi infused vodka.

Slow Bar: UPDATED 04.15.08

UPDATE: 04.15.08

Hey, we all know it's time to pay the man, but you really can't stop eating the burger version of architect fish n chips. PattyDaddy and and one of our best photographers HambaghaStakee can't stop:

Bloody Mary with tomato infused vodka was AWESOME! And the burgers... (Slow top, Winter bottom)... just like everyone else says except they forgot to say HOLY FREAKIN' COW these are good. Man. About the best anyone could ever hope for in a hamburger. Really. This is it. This is what it's all about. It's beyond words. Go to Slow Bar and eat and drink. Go there now. Eat and drink. It's so good. So good... t's genius. Honestly. Go there. God it's good.

Cooked to order still only $9 each. Bloody $6.50. Plan on a big tip 'cause it's worth it.

UPDATE: 03.23.08

Folks can't get enough of this burger:
Burgermeister and PattyPusher had an awesome Saturday afternoon burgering date.

Burgermeister decided on the never disappointing Slowburger, which is a towering monster hell-bent on intimidation: Onion rings, Gueyure cheese, and cherry tomato relish. Burgermeister isn't afraid (once again, Strawberry Mountain Beef. Delicious.)

Pattypusher opted for the less daunting, yet brilliantly crafted Winter Slowburger: Cheddar, Blue Cheese, Panchetta, and the Tomato Relish. PattyPusher had this to say: "Cherry tomato relish has succeeded in being what ketchup wishes it was".

Please note the bloody mary, it's heavenly.

UPDATE: 11.20.07

The Slow Bar has become a Portland Hamburgers favorite. WhopperChomper and ToastedBun give us their take:
WhopperChomper & ToastedBun stopped by Slowbar on a slow Sunday night to watch some football and eat red-meat... Like any good American should.

ToastedBun went with the Slowburger, $9...Good to great burger & fixins. Bun got soggy toward the end which made consuming that last 1/8 lb fairly difficult. Sadly, the fries were lukewarm.

WhopperChomper had the Winter Slowburger, $9. 1/2 lb strawberry mountain natural beef, rogue creamery oregon blue cheese, grilled pancetta, cherry tomato relish. The burger rocked as always, and I particularly like the cherry tomato relish which adds a delicate touch to a not-so-delicate burger. My fries were also lukewarm & the ketchup was ICE cold. Cold ketchup is a weird complaint, but I'm very particular and it’s not good when your fries aren’t hot.

UPDATE: 11.9.07

DJ Izm gives us a taste of his favorite burger in town.

He also has a taste of his trade. From Uffie to Soul II Soul, to some updated version of the Percolator mashed with The Crystals "Then He Kissed Me". Yep, he has a mix you can download: LINK
The Slow Bar burger is my favorite. $9 (extra w bacon), 1/2 pound Strawberry Mountain beef, lettuce, tomato, Gruyere cheese, and two Onion Rings on a perfect sesame seed bun. Served with either fries or salad.

Also available and really good the Slow Bar Winter Burger

1/2 pound Strawberry Mt beef, lettuce, tomato, pancetta, blue cheese, and a tomato relish, on a perfect sesame seed bun. Served with either fries or salad.

Everyone told Hamburgler he should go there, and off he went:
Best $9.45 the Hamburgler has spent in a long time (usually a penny pincher when it comes to burger, but I will be handing them my dollars over and over again.) The "Slowburger" was perfect, juicy, and delicious.

This 1/2 lb. slab of ground beef from Strawberry Mountain, gruyere, onion rings, butter lettuce, pickle relish is unstoppable.

Nevada: Fatburger (Las Vegas)

Looks like a burgler bonanza. PicklesNAmmo, Burgermeister, VeggiePatty, and the Hamburgler splurge:

Fatburger is owned by Portland based Fog Cutter Capital Group Inc. (at least its headquarters) and has a couple celebrity franchisee's like Queen Latifah and Montel Williams, but still not one in Portland to date.

They have 1/2 pounders, 1/3 pounders, baby burgers, fat fries, skinny fries, and homemade onion-rings, real milkshakes, and a salad wedge. Of course you top it with bacon, egg, chili, and cheese as well.

Make no mistake, this is fast food, but they do it a bit better. No complaints here.
